Anima Privacy Policy

Turquoise Hexagon Cybernetics LTD ("us", "we", or "our") operates the Anima voice journal application (the "App").

This page informs you of our policies regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of personal data when you use our App and the choices you have associated with that data.

We do not collect any personally identifiable information or user data through the App.

Information collection and use

The App does not collect any user data, including but not limited to:

  • Personal information such as name, email address, or contact details.
  • Usage data such as device information, operating system version, or app usage statistics.
  • Audio recordings, transcripts, tags, or any other content you create or store in the App.

Data processing

All processing of your recordings, transcripts, embeddings, summaries, and tags happens locally on your device. Audio is transcribed by Apple's on-device Speech framework. Summaries, idea-extraction, threading, and the question-answer flow run through Apple's on-device FoundationModels framework. None of this content is sent to any server we operate, because we operate no servers.

The App makes no outbound network requests as part of its core functionality.

Third-party services

The App may integrate with third-party platforms operated by Apple Inc. for the purpose of distribution and optional features. We do not share any user data with these services beyond what is strictly required for the feature you have explicitly enabled.

Purchase of applications via Appstores

The purchase of our apps is done via special online platforms operated by other service providers (so-called "appstores"). In this context, the data protection notices of the respective appstores apply in addition to our data protection notices. This applies in particular with regard to the methods used on the platforms for web analytics and for interest-related marketing as well as possible costs.

  • Processed data types: Inventory data (e.g. names, addresses); Payment Data (e.g. bank details, invoices, payment history); Contact data (e.g. e-mail, telephone numbers); Contract data (e.g. contract object, duration, customer category); Usage data (e.g. websites visited, interest in content, access times); Meta, communication and process data (e.g. IP addresses, time information, identification numbers, consent status); Content data (e.g. text input, photographs, videos).
  • Data subjects: Customers. Users (e.g. website visitors, users of online services).
  • Purposes of Processing: Provision of contractual services and fulfillment of contractual obligations. Marketing.
  • Legal Basis: Legitimate Interests (Article 6 (1) (f) GDPR).

Optional backup via iCloud (CloudKit)

The App offers an optional encrypted backup of your journal, recordings, transcripts, tags, and summaries, to iCloud via Apple's CloudKit framework. This feature is opt-in: it is disabled by default, and the App functions in full without it.

When you enable iCloud Backup, content is written exclusively to your own private CloudKit container associated with your Apple ID. We have no access to this container, no credentials for it, and no ability to read its contents. Apple operates and stores the data; encryption keys are managed by Apple and (where supported) by you via Advanced Data Protection. We never see your data and do not receive any telemetry that you have enabled the feature.

The data protection notices of Apple's iCloud and CloudKit services apply in addition to our data protection notices in this context.

  • Processed data types: Content data (audio recordings, transcripts, tags, summaries you have created in the App); Meta, communication and process data (e.g. timestamps, device identifiers used by CloudKit for synchronisation, consent status). All such data is encrypted in transit and at rest by Apple.
  • Data subjects: Users of the App who have explicitly opted into iCloud Backup.
  • Purposes of Processing: Provision of optional cross-device backup and restore. Disaster recovery for the user's own journal contents.
  • Legal Basis: Consent (Article 6 (1) (a) GDPR), by toggling iCloud Backup on inside the App.

Your choices

You can disable iCloud Backup at any time inside the App's Settings. You can delete every recording and its associated content in one action from inside the App. We retain no copy.

Children

The App is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. As we collect no personal information at all, no specific provision is necessary.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The most current version will always be posted on this page, with the effective date at the top.
