Noodle's head is tilted. Let's sort it.
Noodle can't hear my keyboard
USB
- Check the keyboard is switched on and plugged straight into your iPad or Mac.
- Hubs and adapters sometimes get in the way, so try without one. Older iPads with a Lightning port need Apple's Lightning to USB Camera Adapter.
- Some keyboards have a USB port that's only for memory sticks. Look for one labelled "USB to Host" or "USB-MIDI".
Bluetooth MIDI
- iPad: tap Pair a Bluetooth keyboard in Noodle and choose your keyboard. If Noodle asks for Bluetooth access, allow it.
- Mac: open Audio MIDI Setup (Noodle has a button for it), choose Window → Show MIDI Studio, click the Bluetooth icon and connect your keyboard.
- Your keyboard needs Bluetooth MIDI. Bluetooth audio, for speakers or headphones, isn't the same thing.
A chord got the wrong name
Some chords really are two chords at once: Am7 and C6 have exactly the same notes. Noodle uses your lowest note and the key you're in to decide, so playing the root in your left hand usually settles it.
Still stuck?
Email noodle@turquoisehexagon.co.uk and tell us:
- What you were doing when it went wrong.
- Your device and its version (Settings → General → About on iPad, or → About This Mac).
- Your keyboard's make and model, and whether it's on USB or Bluetooth.
- A screenshot, if it's something you can see.
We usually reply within a couple of days.
